a christmas story..

I know Christmas has passed but I just found this blogspot. It has a great christmas story on it. Check it out here http://auntpittypats.blogspot.com/  scroll down to Dec. 23,2010  I don't think you will be dissapointed.
If you check it out let me know what you think.
Have a great day.

Getting ready............

Christmas is over and 2010 is nearing the end..  I hope everyone had a great Christmas. My family and I had a great Christmas. I have much to be thankful for. Everyone is healthy, had and still have lots of good food, warm places to lay our head and call home, 3 wonderful grandchildren, 2 wonderful sons, my mom moved back from Michigan(she was there for about 22 years) good to have you home mom, and I have a wonderful Hubby that loves every quilt I make.  Now  I am blessed.   Just so you know we are not a PERFECT family we do have our ups and downs too like everyone else..   I like the up side though.. : )
Hubby loved his quilt. So has everyone that seen it. He even took it to his workplace and showed them. One person wanted to know if it was for sale.
I have photo's now if I can just get them downloaded to the computer.
We have a compute tech coming today or tomorrow to clean up our desktop and set up my new laptop. I can hardly wait to get it online.  I have EQ6 and am anxious to learn to work it. I have had it awhile but I don't enjoy sitting at this desk trying to learn it.  Computers are not in my comfort zone. I have a hard time learning them. My 6 yr. old grandson is better than myself. Now that is terrible isn't it. : )
Quilt:::
I have several projects started and I have been working on trying to complete them so I can start new projects.  I have lots of  fabric in my stash that needs to be used up so I can make room for more shopping trips for quilt fab. After all that is what's fun about quilting......shopping for more fab and starting new projects..
Well I have rambled on long enough.  Hope everyone is having a great day. Stop back in and check out my quilt pictures and see what I have been into.

It is completed!!!!Yipeee  He don't know so I am gonna put it under the tree. He will love it. He is  very appreciative of all the quilts I make.
Gotta run, maybe a pic of the quilt later.

My tree is up, mantle is decorated, a few outside lights are up.......I must get some gifts bought. Time is flying by and Christmas will soon be here and there will be little grandchildren wanting some gifts from mam maw and papaw.

I hope your Dec. is going smoothly and you are getting all your errands or chores done so you will be able to enjoy the holidays. Happy shopping!!

Yardsale treasure..

I found this yardsale find at my friends yardsale... Well of course it is a great find because it is a snowman box. I am putting sewing things in it. Here is a pic of the top of it.
Here is some dishrags that I have been knitting.

Mid November already....

This year is flying by.. Wintercraft was yesterday at our local elementary school. Seems like I just attended the one last year, only yesterday..  I love to see and buy new crafts. I bough some creamsicle fudge. It is "wonderfully delicious". If you remember and like the old time "dream sicle" ice cream bars then you would like this.
Orange Creamsicle Fudge
3/4 cup margarine (1 1/2 stick of margarine)
                                                                         3 cups sugar
7oz. jar of marshmallow cream
2/3 cup of evaporated milk (5oz)
10 oz. of vanilla chips (white chocolate)
3 tsp. orange flavoring
9 drops of red food coloring
12 drops of yellow food coloring

Mix sugar, milk and margarine in heavy saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat while stirring. Boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla chips and marshmellow cream. Stir until chips are completely melted. Remove about 2/3 cup of mixture and set aside. Add flavoring and coloring to remaining mixture left in the pan. Mix well and pour into a 9x13 greased baking dish. Stir in the cup of remaining mix using a butter knife and making swirling motions. Refrigerate until completely cool. Cut into squares. Enjoy!!!!
P. S. Don't forget to take out the calories!!LOL

It's a nice 63degree evening here tonight.. I love it.  Been so busy working at my mom's. We have tore out her kitchen and are putting up paneling and click flooring.  Then she wants cabinets. This is taking awhile but it is looking much better. She has been staying with me until we get her kitchen back together. It's going slow but sure..
No quilting gettting accomplished here for now. I am looking forward to getting back to it though as soon as I can.......
Hope you are having a wonderful fall///

Dropping in.......

My how time does fly.. Its been a few days since I have blogged. I have been helping my mom move back from Michigan. We have been cleaning, cleaning and cleaning.. Now we are lifting, lifting and lifting box after box trying to get things where it might belong until we decide it would be better somewhere else. You ladies know what I mean don't ya?  We gals are always moving things. My hubby use to say he knew to turn the lights on when he came home from 2nd shift because more than likely I had moved the furniture while he was at work and he wouldn't know where the sofa may be.. ( I told him it just kept him on his toes!)
Nothing quilty going on here too much moving..  Although we had quilt guild on the 4th and had a wonderful lady come with her quilt bus and had demonstrations, and of course fabrics to purchase. We had a wonderful day and lots of fun and great food. Our quilters in our guild sure can cook.
Until next time have a great day.....

Goings on.....

Today I made (2) 16.5" square friendship blocks. I will try to get a pic of them and post it.  I was in a hurry to get them completed (for guild meeting on Oct. 4th) and out of the way.  My mom and step dad  are on their way to my house from Michigan. The will be closing on a house here on Monday, and then Wed. or Thurs. moving in.  Everyone will be busy but we want to get it done before the fall rains set in or the snow starts blowing.  I know they are excited about getting to come back to Ky for they are both from Ky originally.
Have a great day.....

Another great product..

If you love using natural products here is a great lady with a great product.  She makes the best soap that I have ever tried. She also has great body butter. http://mapleridgesoaps.com/www.mapleridgesoaps.com/Welcome.html

I done no quilting today but I had a great day. We had our grandson for a few hours. He is such a joy. Always smiling.... Hope you have  a great day or night depending on when you are reading this.

Great product..

I have used Burt's Bees lip balm for a long time. I have recently found that our Wal Mart has several of their other products as well. They are great..I have tried their toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soaps and I just love them.  I don't work for them, I just wanted to let others know how wonderful their products are and they are natural.   Check out  http://www.burtsbees.com/ If you give them a try I don't think you will be disappointed at all.
Now on to a quilty blog post....
I have been doing my snowman embroidery and sewing some half square triangles together for my "Grandmothers nine patch star" quilt it is done with 30's fabrics. If you want to see the fabrics I am using go to my old post "June4, 2010".  I will post a pic of it soon.
I try to sew everyday. I am the kind of person that has to accomplish something everyday or I feel down.. I know that is silly sounding but it is true.  I have to stay motivated. I keep myself that way by visiting quilting blogs, especially http://quiltville.blogspot.com/  and  http://quiltville.com/ I love Bonnie's blog and site. She gets sooooo much done and it just seems to have a way of posting things about quilting that just is so high energy and contagious. It's worth checking out..
I am off to get some things done around here....yes sometimes we must do house chores..boo hoo...
Sewing will come a little later..
Happy Quilting.....

My latest project...

Well of course it's snowmen...

2nd block completed
1st block completed

Warm, dry fall day...

Yes it is a warm 89 degree fall day and very dry. It is so dry here in Ky where I live that the leaves are not colorful. They are just drying up turning a ugly brown and falling off the trees. No orange, yellow or reds here.  Boo hoo! Not a pretty fall at all. At least it is not humid! I am very thankful for that..
Our morning glory flowers are just beautiful..Although we have had no rain hubby has been watering them. Look behind the flowers and you can see our yard is just dried up..

Cooler weather...

Here it is mid Sept and still a warm 85 degrees. I am ready for some cooler weather. I love fall and winter. I feel that fall is a relaxing time. Looking forward to Thanksgiving and being together with family.

Then on to Christmas my very favorite time of the year. I love snow, snowmen and christmas lights. I don't think there is a more pieceful time....just to sit and enjoy soft lights. Here is a tree topper that a friend made. It has a scarf but she didn't have it with her to show me.. Yes I will have one for my tree this year! I just wish it could be Christmas year around (without the stress of course).

Quilt show.......

Spent Saturday at a Quilt show in Sharonville, Oh. with a couple of my friends. We met up with some more of our friends at the quilt show.  We had lots of fun. Bought a few things.(Quilty things of course).  Then we went to Frisch's for some lunch dinner combo.. Then one friend and I headed to the hospital to see a quilter friend that has just had knee replacement surgery. Took her a little something that we purchased at the show. I think it cheered her up.
Today I spent time with my kids and grandkids.  Tomorrow I am planning some sewing time.  I have 4 quilt blocks to make.... I best get up and at it early.  I think grandbaby will be here later in the day to see me and papaw...That will be fun...Lots of baby sugars....LOL
Happy Quilting

Busy Quilting......

I have been very busy piecing a quilt top with 1930's fabrics. It is turning out very pretty. I just need to put borders on it. I would like to post a pic but it needs to be ironed. Maybe I will get to that today.  I have some important things like running the sweeper that must be done first. Although I would rather iron the quilt top... I know shame on me..LOL
We have been busy with our vegetable garden and our flowers. We have had lots of rain this spring and it has made the grass grow so quickly that we can hardly keep our yard mowed. At least it has been green!
Maybe I will get out the camera and take some pretty pics and load them on here later today.
Thanks for stopping by and checking in to see what I have been doing...

Quilting

I finally have the quilt top completed for the little boy that is sick. I have it quilted and the binding on it. A lable is pinned on the back. I will stitch it down tomorrow. I picked a bright blue for the back. Hubby and I will be taking the quilt to the little fellow soon. We have never met him so I am looking forward to our meeting. His father was very touched that I even wanted to make this quilt. It has taken me a little while to get this made with everything that life throws our way. But...it is ready to go.
This is the finished photo of the quilt I made for a young little guy that loves mickey mouse.  His family loved it and was very appreciative.

Spring is here!

The weather here has been nice.  We had 80 last week, then it turned back to more normal springtime temps.  The sun has been shining and it makes me feel so much better.  I have been spending time with my grandkids and playing out in the sandbox with them.
I have pieced a mickey mouse quilt (lap size) for a little fellow that has been very sick.  I need to figure out something to do on the back and then quilt it. I am anxious to see if he likes it. It is very bright.

Snowmen are great anytime...

I know it is the end of March but I love snowmen. I embroidered these and they have been finished for nearly a year maybe more. Today I told hubby lets pick out some fabric from stash that matches these snowmen. So we did.. I sewed it up. I call this kind of quilt making a no brainer. I can sew, talk on the phone or watch tv. Not lots of measuring and trimming.  Just easy. Turned out rather cute.. I have 1 block left and I am working on making a pillow cover with it. Tomorrow I will add the border on the quilt. Now off to bed I go......

Getting something done..

These 2 blocks are from a block of the month called Wing and  a Prayer. We have to complete each months block to get our name included for a drawing of fabric..It is a great way to make me keep up. At the end our quilt will be completed. It won't end  up one of those UFO's.  I have several of them.. Trying to do better..

Be attitudes blocks competed!

Blocks are ready for blanket stitch around each applique piece. Next comes eyes and nose for faces on snowmen, angels etc. "Be joyful" was suppose to have a santa. I didn't like it. So I added another snowman. I have all sorts of decorative buttons to add to the quilt when the top is together and quilted. There are carrots for the snowmens nose,  buttons shaped like flowers and some pearls. This is going to be a quilt to look at not really use.  I usually don't make quilts like that. I like to use the ones I make. This one will go in the spare bedroom.  I will post pictures when the top is complete.

Needles came but...

the needle hits the bobbin case. Boo hoo!! So now, I guess I'm gonna take it to the repair shop soon. Hopefully they can fix it. My fingers are crossed.  If you just ran across this site and this isn't making any sense I am talking about a Singer 319w sewing  machine. Pics are in my older posts.
Finally have my quilting machine going. Now to practice and get a design flowing smoothly.  It is harder than I thought it would be. The more I practice the more comfortable I am getting with it.  On the scale of 1 to 10, I am at 1.5 .  Not going very fast am I? LOL  Maybe someday...........................
Going to go get out my  "Be Attitude" bom quilt top and work on it for awhile. I have 7 of them completed. Now how long will it take to get the other 5 blocks completed? Lets set a finish date........realistically  April 30,2010    The pressure is on!!!!!!

A Beautiful Day........

Today was a beautiful day.  Two oldest grandchildren were here today. It was great. Played outside and got some fresh air and sunshine. They have gone home and all is quiet... Mammaw is tired and I think I will pick up my knitting needles and start knitting a pair of socks.  I started one sock about 4 months ago.. Didn't like the top on it and simply unraveled it. So now I need to start over.  Will I ever be a sock knitter??? I am just not sure.  I will keep everyone posted.  Until next time I hope all your days are sunny.

Strip quilt finished..

Here is my strip quilt. Finally finished and ready to be given to my family member. This is a queen size, with cotton batting and is quite heavy. Gonna be a nice warm quilt.  Sorry photo isn't better.   A photographer I am not. :(  I wish I were.  This quilt is so easy, quick and fun to make. This quilt was quilted by Jeannie Briley.
These are photo's of murals on the floodwall at Maysville, Ky.  Also there are some beautiful ones on the flood wall at Portsmouth, Oh. If you are ever through there they are worth stopping to see.
