Grandsons quilt

I made this quilt for my grandson when he was 2. He will be 6 this July.  My how they grow up so fast. Seems like only yesterday he was born.  I had it quilted by Kay Wilson. She done a wonderful job. She put music notes in the quitar block, water bubbles in the fish block etc.

Gift

I received this snowman bag as a christmas gift. Isn't it adorable. I LOVE snowmen.  It lights up but I couldn't get it to show up in the pic. I pack my knitting in it to our Wed. night knitting get together.  Are any of you snowman lovers?

King of our house

This is Jasper. He is 14 months old.  He loves playing ball, and climbing on the back of the couch and looking out the window at the neighbors cats.  He loves being right next to us wherever we are. He is alot of company for me when hubby is at work.

Do you like Ray Stevens???

There is a video on youtube you might like to see.  Go to We the People by Ray Stevens.  I tried to put it here on my blog but to no avail.  So ya have to take what I call the long way..to get there.  It is funny but true.
We have had a gloooomy day here in ky. It is misting rain as we speak.  Hope the roads don't get icy..The temp. is only 32degrees.
Today was a day for baking delicious homemade oatmeal raisin cookies. Mmmm Mmmm good!!! I put chocolate chips in half the batter, raisins in the other half. It keeps everyone happy that way..  :)
Knitting:
I have been knitting a hat for my 3rd grandchild(a boy). He will be born in the next few days. :)   I have one completed. The 2nd hat is almost 1/2 complete.
I started knitting some socks before christmas. I never liked the looks of the sock the whole time but I kept on knitting. I got as far as the heel, still not liking the pattern at all.. The ladies at "knitting night" kept encouraging me to finish.. But.....I am the kind of person that if I don't like something I am doing I won't finish it.. So I on Wednesday night I came straight home and unraveled the complete sock.. Yip I sure did.. I feel so much better... Now I can search for a sock pattern that I like the looks of.  Oh well, maybe better luck next time.
Tomorrow I must get ready for our quilt retreat starting on Tues.  Hubby says we will sound like a bunch of hens.. Fun time is my goal..
Have a great night

Just stopping in.......

Not alot to post about. I have been working on some 1/2 sq. triangles.  Going slow, but going.
Gonna run to town and get some "duck cloth or canvas " to make leaders for my new to me quilting machine rollers.  I can hardly wait to get them on the rollers and try out the machine. Can hardly wait to do a practice piece.
Tuesday I will be headed to our quilt guilds "Quilt Retreat".  I haven't been to theirs. I will take some pictures for my blog. I hear that they have awsome show and tell. We will see.
Snow is coming down really hard. Suppose to get around 1inch.  Great quilting time or grab a good book and your favorite throw and snuggle up and read.

This is my new to me Quilting Machine. I have it all set up now. Completed that last night about 10 pm.  Hopefully soon I will be able to show some first time quilting results. May not be so good but hey...they say practice makes perfect..
Here is a machine that was given to me by the person I bought the quilting machine from. I got this for free..
I have cleaned and oilded it. It sounds like a dream.  Now I need to find some needles. It takes a special (short) needle.  I just can't wait to get them and sew with it.....
Here is my bunch of nine patches. I have an idea what to do with them. We shall see what the end results are. Lots of pretty colors here. They remind me of spring.

Hello on this kinda sunny Sunday!

Of course I don't think it will be sunny for long. We are suppose to get(last I heard 4-6)inches of snow. Yipee..I love it but my dear hubby don't.. I just tell him "it will only be here for a little while, spring will be coming soon". It's suppose to start around  midnight...I'm staying up to watch it snow....  :)

Many thanks to those of you that stop by to read about my busy and somewhat crazy life. I came to my blog to post and saw that I had comments...Yipeee I was am excited.  I love reading blogs, expecially the ones that make you feel like you are right there visiting (quilting or knitting) with them.
Thanks so much

About the pictures of the tree carvings:
Not sure of the road number but when you leave Carter Caves Park entrance and make a right towards Grayson,Ky they are just a little ways down the road and on the right. Sorta neat I think!

Ok, now to somthing quilty-
I have put the prairie points on the John Deer quilt. Now to decide to add binding or just turn under the back edge and sew..Which shall I choose? I'm just not sure, but I need to get it completed so I can move on..
Oh, I have forgotten to tell you about something very important to me.........I am getting a long arm machine. It is used but I am tickled!! :)  Suppose to get it on the 19th or 20 if it don't snow.. That is one time I don't want it to. Not until I get my machine home.
Do I need to name it? I have given my featherweights names. One is Olivia, the other is Rebekah. I always wanted  daughters and those were the names that I loved. But God gave me 2 sons that I love and I am thankful for them, and the wonderful grandkids that they have given me.
Well I have gone from quilting to grandkids. Not so bad now is it. My 2 favorite topics..
Gonna go and try to get something accompished today.
Have a great day and hope you get some quality quilting time to yourself..
Until next time......................

Will I ever learn to post blogs...

I posted my last 2 blog posts backwards. Will I ever learn? I am thinking
NOT :(

More pics

One of our adventures out into the snow in the park.

Hubby and I saw this on our way from Carter Caves to Grayson, Ky. Isn't it neat. Both of these carvings are in trees right along the side of the road. So neat. We saw one and then when we were on our way back and stopped to take a picture we noticed the other. I thought they were awsome. Someone done a great job.

Carter Caves State Park, Carter County, Kentucky

Well it has been a busy week. Friday Feb. 5th, hubby and I left to go to Carter Caves State Park. Spent the night.  We woke up on Saturday to about 5 inches of snow. It was beautiful. Snow laying on the pine trees and the limbs of the trees. I think that is the most beatiful scenery in the whole world.
I think this is where one of the
park caretakers live.  Everyone was
so nice here at the park.
This is just a pic in the park.

Chief quilt

This is a chief quilt made by my brother-in-law. It is awsome. He made this and sent it to my hubby as a surprise. Hubby loves it. My brother-in-law loves quilting. He took up quilting when he became disabled due to sevier back problems. He makes lap throws and donates 2-3 each week, to the nursing home in his hometown. Those throws are greatly appreciated. He received a thank you from one of the residents. I think that made his day.
One never knows just how something we do, be it large or small, will be a blessing to someone else.

Quilt (quilted)

John Deer quilt is quilted and ready for the prairie points. I will post a pic of it here as soon as I get it completed.  I have another baby project in progress. It is coming along quite well. Will post pics of it soon.
Weatherman says snow is coming on Friday and I am suppose to be going to a quilt show at Carter Caves State Park in Carter County Ky. I just hope I get there before it snows. Maybe we will get there and get snowed in..Yippppeeeeee!!
