part 2 usa made yarn...

Lion Bran also has some USA made yarns.                                                                                                    http://www.lionbrand.com/faq/512.html?www=1&lbc=&language=d

So if you are intrested in seeing more about yarns made in USA just google it.  I wasn't aware that there were that much still made here. Quite intresting I thought.

Have a great knitting, or crocheting day.  It's a great thing to do on a cold and windy day.

USA made

I like buying usa made products. I know that everything we buy isn't made here.  Wouldn't it be nice if it were. :)   Lets keep our manufacturing here by buying it here.
As you know from reading my blog I love to quilt and do some other things like knit and crochet.  Here are some yarn companies that make yarn here in america.  Maybe not their entire line of yarn but you can check it out to see where its made before you buy.
Red Hart Yarn
http://www.redheart.com/blog/red-heart-yarns-made-usa    They have 19 yarns that are USA made.
Here is another:

Did you know they can make yarn from corn? I sure didn't. The yarn looks beautiful. They actucally have beautiful colors available.
They also have yarn made from recycled blue jeans. Yes you read right  recycled blue jeans. Check this out.

fund raiser quilt....

I am so excited to tell everyone that the quilt I made for the fundraiser for my grandkids private school raised almost 400 bucks. Yipeee. You can see  photo of the quilt below.  It  is the scrappy quilt with light blue.  I loved the quilt and was hesitant about giving it away.    But I decided I could make another. Well you know how that goes. I can, I could, but I haven't and I probably will not.  There are just too many different ones out there to make two alike.. Do you make two of the same?  I am sure I will make more on the order of that one but not going to use the same colors.

I made one new years resolution...I think I will be able to keep it too.  :)
To quilt,, quilt,,quilt.

Happy quilting everyone

Happy New Year

Hope everyone is having a great new year.  I have had some time to sew so I think that is a great way to start off the new year.  I am working on a quilt called "Country Spirit".  Here is the site for the pattern        http://www.mccallsquilting.com/patterns/details.html?idx=13201
I am putting my rows together. I will post pics of mine soon.  It is a very easy quilt.  One that I enjoy. One doesn't have to piece quilts that are extremely hard for them to turn out pretty. Don't you agree?   I used thimbleberry fabrics with a cream for the sashing and a barn red for the stars. It is coming together great.
In Dec. I pieced a table topper for my coffee table. I have finished piecing the top but never got a chance to get it quilted. It is scrappy also.
Also I made my granddaughter a bed set (bed ruffle, mattress cover, pillow case and little quilt)  for her doll bed that her great grandmother made her for christmas.  Stay tuned.... for pics........
