Snowmen are great anytime...

I know it is the end of March but I love snowmen. I embroidered these and they have been finished for nearly a year maybe more. Today I told hubby lets pick out some fabric from stash that matches these snowmen. So we did.. I sewed it up. I call this kind of quilt making a no brainer. I can sew, talk on the phone or watch tv. Not lots of measuring and trimming.  Just easy. Turned out rather cute.. I have 1 block left and I am working on making a pillow cover with it. Tomorrow I will add the border on the quilt. Now off to bed I go......

Getting something done..

These 2 blocks are from a block of the month called Wing and  a Prayer. We have to complete each months block to get our name included for a drawing of fabric..It is a great way to make me keep up. At the end our quilt will be completed. It won't end  up one of those UFO's.  I have several of them.. Trying to do better..

Be attitudes blocks competed!

Blocks are ready for blanket stitch around each applique piece. Next comes eyes and nose for faces on snowmen, angels etc. "Be joyful" was suppose to have a santa. I didn't like it. So I added another snowman. I have all sorts of decorative buttons to add to the quilt when the top is together and quilted. There are carrots for the snowmens nose,  buttons shaped like flowers and some pearls. This is going to be a quilt to look at not really use.  I usually don't make quilts like that. I like to use the ones I make. This one will go in the spare bedroom.  I will post pictures when the top is complete.

Needles came but...

the needle hits the bobbin case. Boo hoo!! So now, I guess I'm gonna take it to the repair shop soon. Hopefully they can fix it. My fingers are crossed.  If you just ran across this site and this isn't making any sense I am talking about a Singer 319w sewing  machine. Pics are in my older posts.
Finally have my quilting machine going. Now to practice and get a design flowing smoothly.  It is harder than I thought it would be. The more I practice the more comfortable I am getting with it.  On the scale of 1 to 10, I am at 1.5 .  Not going very fast am I? LOL  Maybe someday...........................
Going to go get out my  "Be Attitude" bom quilt top and work on it for awhile. I have 7 of them completed. Now how long will it take to get the other 5 blocks completed? Lets set a finish date........realistically  April 30,2010    The pressure is on!!!!!!

A Beautiful Day........

Today was a beautiful day.  Two oldest grandchildren were here today. It was great. Played outside and got some fresh air and sunshine. They have gone home and all is quiet... Mammaw is tired and I think I will pick up my knitting needles and start knitting a pair of socks.  I started one sock about 4 months ago.. Didn't like the top on it and simply unraveled it. So now I need to start over.  Will I ever be a sock knitter??? I am just not sure.  I will keep everyone posted.  Until next time I hope all your days are sunny.

Strip quilt finished..

Here is my strip quilt. Finally finished and ready to be given to my family member. This is a queen size, with cotton batting and is quite heavy. Gonna be a nice warm quilt.  Sorry photo isn't better.   A photographer I am not. :(  I wish I were.  This quilt is so easy, quick and fun to make. This quilt was quilted by Jeannie Briley.
These are photo's of murals on the floodwall at Maysville, Ky.  Also there are some beautiful ones on the flood wall at Portsmouth, Oh. If you are ever through there they are worth stopping to see.
